Do YouTube Videos Need Promoting?

So, you have invested in producing a fantastic video to market your products, services and brands. Well done!

The next step for you would be to upload this video on to YouTube.

Oh you have already done this. Great going!

What you will now need to do is get the word out there that you have made this amazing video about your business which must be watched right here, right now!

Many of us innocently think that by merely uploading the video on to YouTube means our job is done and the video will be watched automatically.

Actually, this is partly true, because at the time of uploading your YouTube video, you would have included relevant keywords in the title and description of it.

You would have also added relevant tags to your YouTube video that is sure to hit the search results when users type them into search engines.

But if you want your YouTube video to bring in more web traffic, generate better brand awareness and help in boosting web conversion rates for your business, you would need to spend some time promoting it.

Free Promoting Options

You could post links of your YouTube video to your social media accounts so that your online communities of fans and followers know about your video, watch it and then share it with their own contacts.

If you video is impressive and memorable then it will be shareable and thus spread its reach at wider lengths!

You could also email the link of your YouTube video to all your contacts and even create a press release to submit to online PR directories.

If you have worked with a public relations firm before, then why not give them a call to discuss how they could help you promote your video?

You could create a vlog on a free blogging platform, like here on Google’s Blogger.com and integrate it with your YouTube channel.

Have you included annotations in your YouTube video?

Have you made sure you have a Call to Action (i.e. your contact details, website address, or social media links)? These things are vital, particularly if you are looking to increase your web conversions through your YouTube video.

Paid Promoting Options
Provided you have allocated a budget, you can advertise your YouTube videos through a pay-per-click style service, like Google’s TrueView.

TrueView offers four types of video advertising on YouTube:-

1. In-stream adverts: These come in before the main video, selected by the user, is played and can be skipped by the user after 5 or more seconds. You get to determine the time before the ‘Skip’ button appears.

2. In-search adverts: These appear at the top of the search results page

3. In-display adverts: The appear in the ‘Related Videos’ or ‘Videos Similar To’ sections

4. In-slate adverts: These appear before or in the middle of a longer YouTube video.

By following any or all of these suggestions, you are sure to get your YouTube video effectively promoted and make it work for you in the ways you want it to.
